I was Fired on July 5th 2005 after filing an L&I claim for injuring my back 2 weeks before. I injured my back on the 2nd friday before i was hired, came back and worked the entire week before i was fired, but working the entire week really killed my injured back, i had monday july 4th off and had problems sleeping so i took the medicine from the docs and woke up 15 mins late for work, called in and the manager refused to talk to me till almost 11 am 3 hours after i was suppost to be in, at that point he yelled at em for not comming in and told me that he belives i never hurt my back and that i am a lier for saying i did( i am a diabled vet for back problems already) and that he had broke his back and never missed a day of work for it and that i was fired. never gave me a reason for being fired but i filed a L&I complaint and the private investigator hired by L&I has found out they are now saying i quit by Job abandonment but my pay stubs from the previous 3 weeks show i didnt miss any time at work except for the 3 hours at the end of the day i hurt my self while in the hospital. The PI belives that they fired me illegally and wants to push it to the L&I ADA in Wum Water Washignton. My question is i lost over $5700 in lost wages till i found another job and can i recieve addition money for being illegally fired other then my lost wages. And also can i file a civil lawsuit against the company that fired my and use the information that the L&I PI collected as evedince? or am i stuck with one settletment over an other ie, L&I money or civil? thank you in advance for the help
