My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Texas
I am 15, 16 in December I live in an unhealthy home. I have a new place to live but no job or license at the moment. My friends are going to provide for me until then. I need help on how to emancipate. Also if a parent needs to be at the hearing when you get emancipated...

We don't turn the abused out on the street to fend for themselves, we find alternative custody. Many kids are unhappy with their living situation, but it doesn't rise to the level of abuse. You can't be emancipated PERIOD at 15. In order to emancipate at 16 you need to be living independently and managing your own financial affairs.

Despite what you think you learned about the term in social studies, emancipation has nothing to do with escaping parental enslavement. It is recognition that an independent child needs relief from certain things that are denied him like the ability to enter into contracts.
