    Default Marriage Before Citizenship Interview

My fiancee (Lebanese) and I would like to get married in the summer. I filed for citizenship in end of Feb, went for biometrics in April. And now I got my interview in October. We are planning to get married next month (Sep) but not file for his status until after I become a citizen. Do you think its ok? If so, I would assume I would have to notify at my citizenship interview that I recently got married. Does that look "bad" to them?

Or do you think its best if we got married until after I got my citizenship??

    Thanks in advance!

(fiancé = male; fiancée = female).

Is your fiancé in the U.S., or in Lebanon (or some other nation)? If he's in the U.S., is his status here lawful and, if so, what type of visa does he hold?

If he marries you in the US on a tourist visa, he can get permanently banned for violating the intent of his visa. I suggest you consult an immigration lawyer to coordinate this in such a manner it will not become a legal issue.

We are getting married outside of the US. My question is more related to my citizenship interview: I got my interview in October. We are planning to get married next month (Sep) but not file for his status until after I become a citizen. Do you think its ok? If so, I would assume I would have to notify at my citizenship interview that I recently got married. Does that look "bad" to them?

I would consult an immigration attorney. Generally, citizenship is not a 2'fer.

I would definitely wait with getting married until you have your citizenship just to avoid questions.
Furthermore, I also would ask an immigration lawyer if there are restrictions to the citizenship and trying to get your partner here shortly after you had your citizenship. There might be a waiting period of 5 years for that.
Also if your future husband is Lebanese, it might be more difficult to get his green card in the current political situation.
