Angry Mistake on Form I-566 While Applying for Change of Status from G4 to F1

    Hi

I am currently employed at an international organization under G4 visa. I was accepted to a grad school and planning on starting it in September.

I applied for a Change of Status and the case was received on June 2 by USCIS.

While talking to a friend of mine who's also in the same process, i realized that i made a critical mistake.

Part 6 and Part 7 of the i-566 form (which has to be completed by the human resources official of my organization, and the Department of State for endorsement) were left empty when i submitted the documents. Since the form says "For official use only" and i wasn't given any specific instructions on filling out this form, i just went ahead and left the parts in blank.

I just realized that both had to be filled out. Especially the form i-566 has to be endorsed by the State department prior to sending all the necessary documents for a USCIS's review.

I am seriously worried and i really want to speak with anyone who has knowledge in this area so i can figure out what i should do.

    - Will my petition be denied?
    - How do i get DOS's endorsement? is there a phone number i can call for an appointment??
    - is it possible to send the i-566 form again and ask for a correction to the USCIS office having jurisdiction????

Please i'd appreciate so much if you could give me some instructions on successfully receiving the F1 status.

    Thank you!!

Every immigration form comes with instructions. It is a separate document (http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/f...i-566instr.pdf).

I don't think you made any error, parts 6 and 7 are not for you. Did you file the appropriate supporting documents?

    -------

    According to the form i-566

    page 5.

    2) submit the following request directly to DOS/Visa office or USUN

Change to other noonimmigrant status from A, G, or NATO:

Upon reciept of a favorable endorsement from the DOS/Visa office or USUN, submit both copies of Form i-566, form i-94, form 539 .... all documentation required to establish eligibility for the requested status to the USCIS office having jurisdiction.

So i figured that i should have had an endorsement first, and then sent out the documentation.....
