Default How Long Does a Court Have to Decide a Case After Trial

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California.

Thanks in advance for anyones help on this.

My traffic court date for CA vehicle code 21755 (pass on right safely) was held 6/5/14. I defended myself and Judge said a decision would be mailed to me.

I finally went back to the court house early last week to ask about status, they said no verdict in system and no information. Said something would be mailed to me.

Is there a time limit on how long the judge has to make a decision in California? If too much time has passed could I motion for dismissal?

    Thanks,

I understand that if it is two to three weeks after the court hears the case before you should start asking for the "Notice of Entry of Judgment" so I would at least try and talk with the clerk if you can find out what the holdup is. I know that Penal Code 1382 grants you a right to a speedy trial but I cannot find one that says you are entitled to a speedy judgement.

^^^ I'd ignore that up there.

All the time delay rules were thrown out the window the minute the courts and the state went broke. Apparently the poster above doesn't realize that.

    Thanks for the replies.
So they basically, in theory, have an unlimited amount of time to come to a decision?
