My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
I stole over $100 from a retail store and was very cooperative and wasn't taken to jail. I got a ticket and a court date. I paid the ticket on the same day that it came in the mail, and now I am just waiting for my court date to arrive.
1. My fingerprints were not taken because I wasn't taken to jail. Will my fingerprints be taken when I arrive to the courthouse?
2. I haven't gone to court yet, so I don't know what my sentence will be. Since it is my first offense, I understand that I will most likely face fines and community service. I will do everything in my power to get this expunged from my record. However, I've read dozens of stories where petty theft showed up on a background check and the person was denied the job. Since my fingerprints weren't taken in the first place, will this show up on my record during a background check? What can I do in the future to get this entirely wiped out of my record as if it never happened?
I plan on paying all of the fines and doing community service, whatever it takes. I just don't want to feel ashamed and nervous in the future if I am asked to do a fingerprint test or a background check for a job.
Any help is extremely appreciated. I am sorry on behalf of what I have done. Thank you.
