Default Misappropriating a Former Employer's Data Spreadsheets

Someone Who Isn't Me (SWIM) just quit a job as a computer reseller and distributor, and stole data sheets with cost of items, and customer buying data.

SWIM is in Maryland if that matters.

Before SWIM's resignation, the boss made SWIM aware that what was done was known. The boss told SWIM to send them back, and SWIM did. SWIM deleted all of the files.

What kind of legal action can they take on me, and is this something that has to go through an extensive court proceeding?

Default Re: Emailing Small Business's Data Spreadsheets to Personal Email

If this person who isn't you cares enough to ask, tell him to consult a lawyer or come here himself to ask.

What an employer might do will depend upon the employer's policies and the full facts.
