My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Missouri.
I am wondering what the law is in this circumstance:
I am currently renting a 3 bedroom home which also has a 1 bedroom "mother-in-law" type guest house behind it. I was told that with the guest house we were free to do a sublease if we wanted, if we weren't going to use it. We had been using it ourselves but for the summer decided to see if we could find someone to stay for a few months. My landlord said we could have a small indoor animal allowed back there from a new renter and we have stated this plus not wanting to allow dogs as our toddler son is allergic. The guest house is directly behind ours, there's a small roofed walkway between the two, there's only one yard, my son is outside as much as he can be.
A woman inquired about our place then mentioned she had a small dog. I explained we weren't allowing dogs at this time and she said this was an emotional support animal.
She has not filled out an application or seen the place.
Am I legally allowed to turn her down for the guest house?
