Speeding Ticket in an Express Lane

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington

Hi,

I got a speeding ticket while driving my vanpool van into Seattle. It was in the westbound express lane of I-90 on Mercer Island.

This is the officer's report:

I observed the defendant approaching my location in excess of the posted 60 mph speed limit. I obtained a 77 mph reading on the vehicle at a distance of 681 feet. The Laser SMD #L1366 has been certified by the factory and State Patrol Technicians and found to be in proper working order. The Laser SMD's accuracy was checked (1) by internal self diagnostic test, (2) scope alignment test and (3) the fixed distance / zero velocity test at 100 feet prior to the beginning and end of shift. I have been trained in the use and operation of the SMD device.

My record is currently clean. If I can't find something to get it dismissed I plan on using my deferral. I will check the records on file with the court for the SMD #L1366. Anything else anyone can think of?

Discovery is how I got the officer's report I pasted above and I said I'd check the records on file for the SMD certs...

The prosecutor came to the court and offered (almost) everyone an adjustment to non-moving violations. Turns out my tabs expired and I wasn't speeding after all.
