Forgive my rambling, but writing papers was never my strong suit! I received a Certificate of Rehabilitation from California is 2000. I did 4 years in the pen for 1st and 2nd degree burglary, and had a robbery conviciton that I received county time for as well. It took a long time to get the certificate, and I am thankful for a great public defender helping me out along the way. I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist in both California and Colorado, and have worked with troubled kids and their families for many years. I am also a certified addictions counselor in Colorado.

I currently supervise two programs in what Colorado calls a Therapeutic Residential Child Care Facility. It is essentially a rehab for at rsik youth. When I took the job, I disclosed my felonies, as I always have in any job. They hired me, and somewhere along the way, my background check never went through. It is now two years after I was hired, and my boss walks into my office and says I cannot work with kids in Colorado. They are going to appeal the decision, but I would think it does not look good.

My questions are these:

1. My certificate in California would allow me to be a juvenile probation officer if I wanted to. Is this a question that an administrative law judge would have the final say on, as far as the interpretation of the law between states?

2. Does my company have any responmsibility for giving me a job, and not knowing the regualtions? I moved my family from California to take this job.

3. I have had great reviews at my jobs since going to school, getting my degree, and understand that my past actions have caused me to have to prove myself over and over. Is this worth fighting, and any advice would be appreciated.

Again, sorry for the rambling!
