My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: CA
My position is a desk job and I do not use my car, except for an occasional meeting. The staff person responsible for facility and company vehicle maintenance sent me an email saying he had seen my DMV notification that I needed to renew my drivers license, and to take care of it. I saw him later and asked why he knew that info and why he was asking. He said that sometimes he gets those notifications, even when a person does not drive company vehicles.
So, I did take care of renewing my license, but the state takes 60 days to send it. Therefore, I am currently driving on an expired license.
Like clockwork, he emailed me asking for a copy of my license the day before my birthday. I did not respond. Today he called me.
I don't think it is any of his business - and he is kind of creepy to boot.
But can I be fired for driving to/from work or to work meetings on an expired license? I can ride the bus easily, but can he get me for driving previously on an expired license?
People suddenly disappear around here a lot, for no apparent reason, which is why I am asking this potentially, seemingly dumb question. Help!
