I am so sorry. I have another question that I have been thinking about. What do you do in the state of Tennessee to change a childs last name?

You indicate in your other thread that the father's rights have been established and a support order is in effect. Normally that would mean you would have to petition the court which issued the support order to authorize the name change, and convince the court that the name change is in the best interest of your child. The father would have the right to oppose your petition.

The Shelby County Court offers a sample name change petition online.
