My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California
Hi experts,
I went to a local tax returns preparer to get a quote. I submitted all my documents on his website. I was quoted around $450 which seemed very high to me. I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay that much. When they asked me to pay $100 as advance,I said that I would pay later and came back.
After a couple of days, I received a call from them that they have completed the tax returns. I clearly told them that the price was too high and didn't want their services. After a few days, I received an email saying that I am entitled to pay their fees. They might have spent time and worked on my tax returns but I never took the completed tax returns from them. I also received an email saying that they would submit for collection agency.
Now, I got a letter from the collection agency "capitalaccounts" for an amount of $550.
Since i never accepted/received their services, will I be able to dispute this and request a cancellation. Am I entitled to pay the fees when I didn't receive the services.
Thanks in advance
Ron
