Question Accused of Stealing a Co-Workers Checks

So "allegedly" this is whats going on. A place where i worked there was a employee that had a check book taking from his desk. it was a locked office that me along with at least a few other people had keys too. so we were all questioned, and i lost myjob, not sure about the others. so lets say "i did take it" and just gave it to someone else then never touched it again, i never did anything with them AT ALL!! some other people )3 all together and i know all of them) they wrote checks, put them in atms, and got the money out. at least one of them has been charged with 2county forgery and recieving. now ive been told they have a warrant out for me. i know they dont have me on anything as far as getting money goes, i didnt have anything to do with that. also theres no cameras or anything for them to know who it was that took the check book. so if theres no video or anything else, that makes me think maybe they are trying to charge me with taking the check book, but the only thing they could have is someone else talking, and it would have to be someone that in with the case itself. if theres no video or anything to show that i really took it, and it ended up being their word against mine, and they are already guilty of the same thing, can i be convicted on those ground alone?

Based on the two threads you have on this forum, you REALLY need to be speaking to a criminal defense attorney, rather than an internet message forum.

If you stole the checks and gave them to somebody else to use, when they catch your buddy they're probably going to have little trouble figuring out that you were the thief, and the odds are actually pretty good that your buddy will give them your name.

The TV program CSI really has a lot to answer for.

Long before forensic science gave us microfibers and DNA testing, law enforcement still managed to catch criminals and make the charges stick. They don't need to have you on video taking it.

gee, some friends of yours use checks that you were fired for as a suspect of having stolen them.

do you really think the cops cannot connect those dots?

you best hope the people caught using the checks are very close friends to somebody else that had keys to the office the checks were in and that the guys caught do not give up your name.

and conspiring to commit a crime is also illegal.

    You're toast.

yes the other people did have at least one other person that had keys, as well as other people that worked for the company that would have access during the day to the office since its unlocked during operating hours. I know i need a lawyer, i guess i didnt phrase the question right. Mainly im asking what can they charge me with? If i just took the check book, and gave it away, what can i be charged with? I know that if someone talked im toast. Im just trying to figure out what kind of charge i may be looking at so i can give a defense lawyer a little more info. Thanks for all your responses.

You don't need to tell the defense lawyer what charges you anticipate. Tell him what you did (do NOT tell us - that can come back to bit you in the ass big time) and HE will know what you can be charged with.
