My question involves insurance law for the state of: MI
At a red light this morning, I guess I rear ended someone.
We were stopped at a light, and I had some testing for my high school so I was making sure I had all my things together in the passenger seat. I felt a bump and saw the car in front of me with its reverse lights on. I reversed a bit because I thought the car may have been up too far and was backing up. The reverse lights flashed on again. Then the hazards were turned on.
We get out of our cars, and the woman says I bumped her. I told her I'm pretty sure that she backed into me. She continued to claim I bumped her, so I eventually agreed. This was my first accident ever, and I was really nervous and shaken up. I gave her all of my information, insurance, license, registration, and she took a few pictures. She told me she will take it to the dealership, and let my insurance know if there's any damage. She believed there was no damage as well. Then she drove off.
If there was any damage at all it was very, very minor. I was so worried, and it being my first accident ever I forgot to get her information. I have nothing except maybe the type of car she has. On my car there is just an imprint of where her hitch might've bumped it. I'm worried as to what can happen if I don't have her information.
