Default Does Paying for Your Ex's Health Insurance Affect Spousal Support

My question involves a marriage in the state of: Pennsylvania. I may be going through a divorce soon. We have been married 23 years and my wife hasn't been employed for 21 years. My monthly net income is $5600. My employer provides medical insurance for her , three children , and I. My employer provided insurance is expensive. How much is the medical insurance going to affect the amount of ailimony that I gave to pay her?

Shawn, if your net is $5600, you need an attorney. Desperately.

I know it's the weekend and all but you have an awful lot to think about, financially speaking. We can offer guesses, sure - but this is one that really does require the services of a savvy attorney who is familiar with how your local judges tend to rule.

Why do you believe you will be ordered to insure your ex-spouse after your divorce is final? Now that the PPACA is in effect, she should qualify for an individual plan or Medicaid, and (if she enrolls in an individual plan) should receive a substantial subsidy.

I'm not going to confuse the issue now because Mr. K is most likely correct. But IF your attorney, when you get one, thinks there is a real reason to believe that you'll be order to continue to insure your ex, come back here because there are a couple of issues you'll want to be sure you take into consideration.
