Default Laser Speeding Ticket, 48 in a 35 MPH Zone

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California

I got a speeding ticket (22350) for going 48 in a 35. Officer used a laser gun to determine my speed. This is my first ticket and I don't know how to take care of it. My questions are:

1.) If the officer doesn't show up, does my case automatically get dismissed or do I have to plead my case with the judge?

2.) I don't believe the officer has filed the ticket (it's been about 2 weeks) because I cannot find it online to see how much it is. Are there laws regarding when an officer has to file the ticket in CA?

3.) Any tips about how to fight my ticket or should I just plead guilty, pay the ticket, and go to traffic school?

4.) On the same citation I got a fix it ticket for my plates. I had bought my car less than 3 months before the ticket. I believe the dealer told me I have temporary registration for three months and I told the officer that but he said that once you get your registration and plates in the mail, you have to put the plates on. Is this true or can I fight that ticket on the basis of not having my car for three months yet? If not, how do i take care of the ticket?

In fact, at your first appearance, the officer isn't required nor is he likely to be there. You won't get it dismissed at that point.
At trial, if he doesn't appear he may still get a continuance.

    He's got a year.
3.) Any tips about how to fight my ticket or should I just plead guilty, pay the ticket, and go to traffic school?
Traffic school avoids the point, you'll need to determine if that's advantageous to you. The first thing to do since lidar was used is to see if the speed trap law applies in this case (what road was it? do they have a current traffic survey?).

When you bought the car is largely immaterial. You should have been displaying the unexpired temporary registration in the window. Were you?
Anyhow, if you've got the regular tags/registration, you can get that dismissed as a correctable violation (costs $25 admin fee).

Thanks! I'll just do traffic school to get the point off.
