Default Does a Parking Infraction Violate a Speeding Ticket Deferral

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington in King County

I received a deferral 2 months ago for speeding and just got a ticket taken by a traffic cam in the mail for turning right on red without stopping but the ticket said it won't be reported to the insurance company and that it's a parking infraction. My question is, will this affect my deferral since this is under the one year statue even though it's considered a parking infraction? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It shouldn't have any effect on the deferral. The speeding ticket is a moving violation while the parking ticket (the Red Light camera) is a non-moving violation. You'll be fine unless the speeding charge was amended prior to deferral.

I'm going to disagree with Brendan. I don't think it's a "sure thing". The problem is that the camera ticket still gets listed as a violation of RCW 46.61.055 -- NOT some parking regulation -- and that IS a "moving violation". So, even though it is not reported to insurance companies or employers, it is still part of your DOL record. When the deferral period is up, some clerk SHOULD (whether this actually happens or not is a matter of conjecture) pull your record and examine it. So, now the question is: does the camera ticket matter? I'm not sure. And, it might vary by court.

OP, you could call the clerk of the court and pose your question to them.

There is a note on the ticket that says: "This infraction will not be a part of your driving record and will be processed as a parking infraction." Does that make a difference?

You may be right. I think parking tickets get recorded by vehicle -- not driver. So, it's possible the court won't see it. But, as I said, I'd still advise calling the court and asking.
