Can You Get a Tourist Visa While Seeking Marriage-Based Immigration

Hello, I just had a question if a foreigner could obtain a tourist visa while an immigration visa in being processed? I'm living with my wife in Chile, but we eventually want to move back to the US, in the mean time we would like to visit my parents since she hasn't met them personally yet. Is it possible to file a immigration visa, and then travel as a tourist (through the VWP or other B-2 Visa) for a month or so?

You've applied for a K-3 visa?

Mr. K gave you the right answer. You need one of the K visas (most likely the K-3 he referred to). Attempting to enter on a VWP or B visa has a good possibility she will be turned around at the border for having immigrant intent.
