Default Contempt Proceedings for Interstate Support Arrears, Already Paid Directly

My question involves child support in the State of: Florida i recently received a motion of contempt for arrears in Fl for monies owed in Tn. a considerable amount (to me ) was paid which covered 3 months of arrears. I've been currently out of work for the past year but still supporting my children's needs via sending $ directly to their bank accounts as needed through odd jobs and family help, but not to state until recently . I immediately spoke with Department of Revenue Service for child support and they showed that in Florida my balance due was zero and i should show magistrate copy of payment and motion wouldn't proceed. also my x wife and i are quite civil towards each other and she stated she never received any notices until a week or 2 ago about court hearing which the state is petitioning on her behalf. she said she'd never put my well being at risk of jail time over child support payments and agreed to write a letter stating this was not known to her . should i be ok at court without representation ?

The important thing is to turn up. Don't trust anyone else's promise that "oh don't bother, nothing will happen".

Present your evidence and it should all be settled fairly quickly.

I'm going to appear of course but should i be able to handle it alone ? its funny raising and supporting 2 straight A children for 17 years then going to court over a few grand and not being deemed a good father for a year of rebuilding after divorce.

The state doesn't recognize that you were depositing $$ into your children's accounts. The state will more than likely consider that a gift and NOT CS.

There's something odd about that part, given the claim that "in Florida my balance due was zero". It's not clear how Florida would knmow about and credit payments made directly.
