My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Michigan
My Mother died last December. We want to give her old Subaru to my college aged son, but the title cannot be found. The Michigan DMV website says that the title of a deceased owner can be transferred by bring the title, registration and death certificate into a branch office. But we don't have the title. The website says to get a replacement title, the current owner shown on the title must sign a form--but she is dead. Hence, a catch-22. We can't get a replacement title because my Mom is not here to sign the request, but we can't transfer the title for the deceased owner because we don't have the title.
My son lives in Colorado and ultimately will need to register the car there. Help?
