Default National Guard Member Caught Stealing at the PX

I am in the military myself (National Guard in HAWAII) ... I got caught shoplifting at the PX. I have been dealing with this incident three days since the incident and it is not easy. I am embarrassed and ashamed of my actions. I know what I did was stupid and out of character... I am owning up to my consequences and accepting them for my misbehavior.

I was sent to a room with the LP and I was cooperative with them and gave the items back that I stole... I stole the amount of $147.67. I had damaged some of the items by ripping off the barcodes.

The military police were called, they waited til the LP to give them a copy of the video of me shoplifting and wrote a statement down.

I was handcuffed and sent to the Police Station. They told me to call one of my Commander in my unit to come pick me up after they inprocess me.

I had to take pictures and be fingerprinted.

The military police told me that since it wasn't the weekend I am being charged as a CIVILIAN for shoplifting.
She was going to write me a CBB which has to do with me going to court. Then she excused herself out of the room and came back to tell me that " This is just a slap on the wrist, so basically you don't have to go to court but your commander will find out about this"

My Captain came to pick me up and counseled me outside of the building, telling me that she might demote me...........................

I have drill this upcoming weekend and I am truly embarrassed to look at anyone when I go back..Eventually it may get around and people will find out

My captain said not to disappear and still show up for drill or else I will cause the problem even bigger...........

Anyways, since the military police told me that I didn't need to go to court, was she telling the truth or she didn't know what she was doing!? because she kept leaving the room asking someone else questions and coming to me telling me this so and so...

She was confusing me the whole entire time.........
When I got released, another MP told me that YOU ARE BANNED for life at the PX.. You will get a letter in the mail "CIVIL DEMAND LETTER" of your fine.. and that I am only allowed in that store when I have to go and pay for it...

I know I have caused some damages to some of the items, will they charge me for the items that I damaged?
WHen will this letter come in the mail?
Will this go on my record on the civilian side?
Can LOSS PREVENTION take me to COURT for this?

PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTIONS.. THANK U.

    Most likely, yes
It'll come when it comes. The USPS is a law unto itself
I don't know enough about the military to say
    Yes.

Yes to your questions. And the Civil Demand will come in the mail from either PX or their lawyers.

Note that the civil demand is NOT your fine. It is an independent restitution to the exchange for the damages you caused.
You will go to court and punishments (fines, probation, costs, jail...) will ensue from there.
Note even though you are going to civilian court it sill likely is federal.
You need a lawyer when the charges come.
