    Default Hoping to Move Out

although i have not legally lived on my own... i am an independant individual.. i have a job and am looking for a enw one... i can cook and clean. i have places i can stay. my girlfriend is pregnant, and my father does not allow me to see her. i am invited to stay there as long as i am legally allowed to. do i have grounds for emancipation. i have worked in a daycare for years, my father no longer is teaching me life's lessons... my life generally works as: wake up at 5... run to my gf's and stay until my fathers curfew at 10 sometimes longer. i am 17.
i get decent grades and am available to go for a 3.0 gpa... i have honors classes, and am aspiring to be a math teacher.... with the 2 year scholarships from the IFTC program i might be elligible for free college..

i would appreciate anyadvice on if i have grounds for emancipation and if so, how do i apply ie: where to send the forms, who do i contact, etc....

    thanks

If your 17 now it might be in your best interest to stay put until your 18 continue to go to school. I fyou leave you will need full time work to support yourself. Your other issues will not help your emancepation case. Its not about preggers GF its about self support. If your GPA is that high your best bet is stay put go to college and live in a dorm. Your not that far away and you have much to lose by leaving now

But you can't get much if you don't identify the state, as you were instructed to do when you started this thread. Again, emancipation laws vary by state.

You can see the Illinois emancipation laws here. You must be at least sixteen to bring an emancipation petition in Illinois. Among the other facts you must establish to emancipate, you must show to the court's satisfaction that you are "a mature minor who has demonstrated the ability and capacity to manage his own affairs or (ii) a homeless minor who is located in this State; and [that you have] lived wholly or partially independent of his parents or guardian."

If you feel you qualify, check with your county courthouse to see if they offer any standard forms to petition for emancipation.

Whether you are seeking to be wholly or partially independent of your parents.
