Unhappy Can an Undocumented Immigrant Obtain a Green Card Through a Parent

Hi! I'm a 20 year old currently living in the United States since the age of about 3. My Canadian/American mother brought me here without a green card or any documentation like that. (I really don't even know how that was possible) but I guess laws on who could come in and out of the country might have been alot less strict before 9/11. She was a U.S. citizen at the time, I was not. I applied for a certificate of citizenship before my 18th birthday and was subsequently denied (which I'm sure was rightfully done as I had no permanent residency)? So when Obama issued the executive order for Deferred Action to prevent deportation proceedings against an undocumented immigrant I applied and was accepted into the program. My question is, under these circumstances do I qualify to receive a green card? I do not want to waste the $900+ to file the application only to be denied and out of the money. What should I do? Thanks everyone!! Immigration laws definitely have to be some of the most complicated and confusing laws I have ever seen in my life. LOL

Exactly what reason were you given for the denial?

Spend a little more on an immigration lawyer if you want to be sure. Is your mom still a US citizen? Was she a US citizen at the time you were born? As Doggy asks, why did they deny you?

Thank you for your responses! and the reason for denial (not verbatim) were that I needed to produce a green card before a certain amount of days to show permanent residency before they would grant me the citizenship. So, not having the green card, I basically just gave up.

also she was not a citizen at the time of my birth but she was one before the move, and she still is.
