Default Possession of Cocaine in Campus Dorm Room

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland

    Hi,

I was found in possession of cocaine (tiny bag for personal consumption) and a few adderal pills about 6 years ago. A friend was overly concerned and reported my activity to a campus official. It was a long time ago but I just received an amazing employment offer (cleaned up my act big time) and am concerned about what could be found on a background check as well as the pursuance of criminal charges against me.

A run-down of that fateful day goes like this: campus officer, my old friend and someone from student life came to my dorm to question me and I spilled the beans right away and gave up the little coke bag and the few pills. They escorted me to a private campus office, took away my drugs and called my parents, telling them I was found in possession and they need to come get me asap. I was told I would be suspended for 2 semesters effective immediately and was escorted to collect my belongings from my dorm. One of the counselors at the university had me sign a form acknowledging I was in possession and that I would be suspended for 2 semesters. I know it's been 6 years, but I am concerned that somehow I can still be charged, even though police were never called (only campus police officer) and I was allowed to leave the state (not from MD) without any other notices of a court date, no finger prints, no trip to police station, etc. Since then, I've graduated from a great university (my previous university I guess never disclosed that I was suspended or found in possession) and I've also worked at a prestigious firm for 2 years (and they run extensive background checks).

    1) Can I still be criminally charged for that possession despite not having any criminal record to date?
    2) Since no police were called and I have to criminal record, is there somehow a report on me filed that could make me go to jail, be charged with a misdemeanor or pay a huge fine?

I realize I'm being a bit paranoid, especially since nothing came up from my 2nd university or my most recent employer, but I am still quite worried of one day someone banging on my door to arrest me or me being fired from my job if they were to find out. I've never done anything else illegal and have always generally "played by the books."

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thank you.

Six years after-the-fact, you can consider the matter to be closed. Although Maryland has no statute of limitations for felonies, Due Process issues still exist. Even if somehow somebody decided to try to initiate charges six years after-the-fact, and I put the odds of that only slightly above 0%, the case is cold as ice and the evidence is long gone.
