Can You Get Traffic School After Losing a TBWD Without Going to Court

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California, Kern County

I've been unable to find a definitive answer for this question, so I'd like to ask explicitly. I was cited for speeding last month and have yet to decide whether to contest the ticket thru written declaration or attend traffic school. I realize that TBWD is largely a game of odds, and in the case I lose, I need to know if I can ask for traffic school WITHOUT going to court for TDN or anything else.
The courthouse I will have to attend is several hours from where I reside, and I unless I can request Traffic School by mail/phone/online, I'd be better off choosing traffic school outright.

Essentially, I want to play the odds with TBWD, but cannot afford NOT completing traffic school if I lose TBWD. Thank you in advance!

No. You can request at the TDN but it is usually not granted once you have started into the process.
