Default Notice to Victim of an Offender's Release from Custody

My question involves criminal law for the state of: delaware

I was a victim in a crime. The offender received 1 year of level 3 probation(intensive supervision) as their sentence. This started in September. Exactly 9 months later I received a letter that the offender was being "released from custody" from the department of correction. Does this mean the offender was in jail or he was finished his level 3 probation ? I called and victim services states they believe it was letter advising the victim the offenders status had changed. I'm confused because it stated he was being released from custody. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Default Re: Notice to Victim of an Offender's Release from Custody

"Released from custody" usually means let out of jail. As far as I know, it isn't typical to notify a victim that an offender has completed their probation - probation is not custody.

You'd do well to call the Department of Corrections and ask for clarification.
