Frequent Shoplifter Caught for the First Time

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Shoplifting

Today I was caught at a dollar store chain shoplifting. It was my first time getting caught, but I have been stealing from that store for awhle.
The clerk said that the police were called (I call bs on that one) but they never showed. I didnt get arrested, but the store made a copy of my ID and made me sign a "banned" notice. I know it wont go on my record since I was not arrested and detained. I dunno what the store will do next. Anyone know more about this? Also if I am banned from that particular store in the chain, am I banned from all stores in the chain?

There is no state in the US called "shoplifting."

Most likely you are banned from all the stores, but that should have been apparent from the paper you signed.

You can expect the store's "lawyers" to send you a letter demanding a few hundred in restitution your criminal behavior has cost them.
It's also possible that the store reported you to the NRTD which will plague you for certain job applications for seven years.

It's still possible for you to be charged, the store LP people can make a complaint, it's not necessary for them to have the cops arrest you on the spot. If that happens, you should consult an attorney in the state of "shoplifting" who can figure out what the laws in that mythical place are.

And if you have been shoplifting there for a while, you may find yourself with more than just one charge if they file a complaint with the police.

As for the ban...you are most likely banned from all their stores, nationwide. Get caught in one, you can be arrested for Criminal Trespass.
