    Default Sixteen-Year-Old Caught Shoplifting

I have recently got caught stealing from Walmart. The total cost of what i was about to steal was around $40. I really regret doing this. Its a wake up call for me. This is my first time ever getting in trouble that involved a police officer. This is my first offense. I am 16. I did get a citation from the police officer, but what i want to know is, do I have to go to court for this? What are my consequences. I am scared, and I feel really bad doing this. I live in Minnesota. Please Help me!

Default Re: What Will Happen for Shoplifting

Since you're 16, if your parents are somehow not aware of this, you need to sit down and tell them. Because they will have to appear in court with you. And the store/its lawyers will be mailing a Civil Demand notice to "Parents of...."

Your parents need to consult with a Criminal Defense Attorney for you. They should be able to get a free consultation.
