My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: maryland
So maybe you can help me. On 2/22 I bought a used car from the dealership in Finksburg, Maryland. It was sold to me as inspected. I put a down payment and was approved for a loan. Several days after owning the car is started to drive funny. My mobile mechanic came out to my house sunday to have a look, to find out that there is no way this car should've passed inspection.
He found that the tires are dry rotted, it needs a new axel, ball joint, control arm, tie rod, motor mounts, strut mounts. All these things would've caused it to fail inspection. I did repairs to the tune of almost $800. But it still needs more work to reach md inspection standards. Its just not right, that car was a safety hazard and should never have left their lot, let alone have ever passed inspections.
Obviously this car has not been properly inspected, and my gut tells me that none of their cars have been. The reason I decided to get a new car was because I just moved to Maryland, and was informed that under no circumstance would my old car ever pass inspection. Yet somehow this dealership had my car already listed on their website the very next day after I traded it in, they claimed it was inspected. 4 days later the car sold. This really tips me off that it's very possible that there is fraud going on here. Obviously the car I purchased never truly passed inspection, and it's obvious my old car wasn't either. After doing some research I found many people with the same experiences had written reviews on the Internet.
At this point I don't know what my next move is. But somebody needs to stop this fraudulent dealer.
I'm supposed to go to put the remaining $1100 on the down payment tonight, a friend of a friend is a lawyer and is going to call them because as soon as I mentioned the inspection they stopped responding to me.
What is your take on this?
