My question involves child support in the State of: Kentucky
I make 38,316 annually pre-tax. I bring home 2000 a month after tax and insurance on myself and my 3 children, The mother of my children brings home 1200 a month after tax, on top of that she gets food stamps and free child care. She receives 920 in child support + i am required to pay for their insurance. Our custody situation is this: I am the non-custodial parent and I have 'reasonable visitation' with my children. However, I keep the children half of the time. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday one week and the next week Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday of the following week. I provide, food, clothing and everything for them in my care, however I cannot afford to pay her what the state is asking me to pay, AND keep them how much I am keeping them. The mother of my children is collecting the food stamps and using them even when she doesn't have them, (and i have to shell out cash for food for the children when they are with me). She also claims each on of them on the taxes every year, so she gets around 8-10k a year on that. How is this fair? Can none of this other money be counted as income? Can she not take less because of how much I do keep my children?
