Seriously. EVERY time she goes in, it's always right at opening, and everything she wants is needing to be restocked?

Come on, ll. You're smarter than that.
I don't shop at Target, but I occasionally shop at Walmart and whenever I have been there during the hours they normally restock, literally 25% of what I want to buy hasn't been stocked yet and is sitting on pallets. Sometimes its even hard to negotiate a cart around the store because of the number of pallets.

    Sure, once in a while.

But when EVERY time she goes it's during re-stocking hours, and EVERY time the item she wants is still on a pallet in a box, then either she's up to something or she's playing games. Read the first paragraph carefully. This was not a one-off situation.

Either way, the store is within their rights to ban her.

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Hampshire

Ok so here it is I was literally kicked out of a store because this store would open at 8 am, I would go looking for certain items and lots of times the items came in but where on a unattended pallet still boxed. I would aks an employee nicely if they could open the box so I could get what I want, pay and leave. Well they started to have issues with that and saying no even though the item was literally right there in a stack unattended. Well one day I went in and a guy was stocking I said " Can I ask you to open something so I can buy it or will you get all mad" He said " Nope as a matter fact I am going to ask you to leave and not shop here again. If you come back I will call the poilce" . I said "wow ok" and walked out with my 1 year old son. Another manager was following me from far behind I told him nicely not to follow me out like a criminal and to walk next to me. I am wondering can I go back to this store ? They took no photo copy of my id, I signed nothing and all I did was "bug" them about stocking the items I needed while I was there. There is a another Target down the street that literally will let me take the boxes I want off the pallets, open them and get what I need. I never leave a mess, never steal. The store that kicked me out I think was mad because when my son was 3 months old a stocker lifter a giant box, at least 18 inches long , 10 inches high above my son in his stroller instead of going around . I was quite mad and vbrought it up with management . So some help here

Does not the inventory control system need to be updated to reflect stock on the shelves? If someone were to scan an item that the system does not record as having been stocked as yet, it seems like it might be a problem even though the store might have some in storage. It seems like, while a person could pull one out, they would then have to stock the entire shelf of that item and record it on inventory control. Then we run into PandorasBox problem of pallet balance.

Op must be one of the people that buy and resell toys on eBay.

What they do is go to the store at opening before customers come in and before the shelf is stocked so they can open the boxes of toys and take the rare toys out so they can resell them.

Sometimes they open boxes and buy nothing because the rare toys aren't in every box.

No, it becomes inventory the moment shipping and receiving check the order into the store's system. They don't record inventory out on the shelves when stocking. You stock until the shelves reach capacity and the rest goes back to the warehouse.

Oh, I wasn't saying that they didn't have the right to ban her from the store. I wouldn't have commented at all if it wasn't to respond to the comments made by the poster I originally responded to.

I just didn't think that it was unusual for lots of items to be on pallets rather than on shelves during times that a store normally restocks. I also don't think its unusual for a store to ban someone for interfering with their stocking system by constantly asking for things to be taken out of boxes on pallets.

Some stores don't care...but many do.

Well I do not plan to go back to this store was honestly just curious. I Just drive 10 minutes down the road where people are not nearly as rude. I had something similar happen at a Wal-Mart but all I had to do was call corporate and they called the store and said to let me back in. Target seems to not really cared I called corporate and they pretty much wanted all my info and it felt like if I gave it to them they would have just had everything put in writing lol. Wal-Mart seemed genuinely concerned where Target seemed to not care . I do buy to resell on Ebay yes but I do not take the boxes and dump them on the floor I understand they may not like what I do but I thought banning me was a little extreme. And at Target once the product is scanned off the truck it is inventory, product on the floor whether in a box on a pallet OR on a shelf is counted as SALES FLOOR STOCK. I more then once helped customers who would come in, one example lady said "online it says you have lego minifigures" Store employee "No none on the shelf when I scan it says 144 but its off" I kindly pointed out to both of them the box on the pallet that said Lego minfigures. I am not satan just a person trying to make ends meet. There use to be nice employees who did not mind but every now and then someone employee would freak out and even go as far as to say what I do is illegal.

And sooner or later, you'll wear out your welcome at that store, too, if you keep it up.

That's the thing the other store literally does not care. They are more then happy to open boxes on the pallet they say "its there for us to sell"..... Where in MA do you live ? Anywhere near me in NH ?

She said she usually went in about 8 AM, when the store first opened for the day. That is also normally the time when they would be stocking shelves. That isn't unusual at all.
Target stocks their shelves overnight, not first thing in the morning. Their stock crew comes in at 10pm
