My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: TN
I was offered a position here very recently.
Before i even completed the application for the job i had signed the acceptance and welcome letter stating what my pay rate would be and my start date.
I then went and put in my 2 weeks notice from my current employer at the time. i went in this morning to start my new job to find out they have terminated me. due to my application stating i had no prior convictions. when in fact i did from 1998. I will take blame for checking no, i had thought criminal checks where only 10 years back. as my previous employer was a major company and i had passed all there background checks.
So now here i am unemployed, i had left a great job making good money working from home, to what i thought was to be a better job.
I would think a company can not actually hire you until all background checks came back good and they give the hiring manager the ok to make the hire. Its pretty sad a company can tell someone they are hired and even have them sign the acceptance letter thinking they have landed the job then turn around and do something like this.
Thank you for any reply s, whether they are good or bad
