Default Can You Discharge Parking Ticket Fines in Bankruptcy

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: IL

I need some advice on a situation I am in.

A year ago my mom went to get a title loan, and she asked me to be the cosigner, I agreed to do it because I wanted to help her, but I had no idea how much trouble this could get me in.

Whenever I went to her house I noticed I had mail there, they were parking tickets in my name (I have never even had a drivers license yet) There were a few tickets there, I decided to pay them since I knew she wouldn't, I didn't want them to pile up even more since they were in my name. I paid around 300 dollars worth in her parking tickets.

As of today she has gotten over 15,000 dollars worth of tickets and I had no idea about these tickets since they never come to my address, only hers and she never shows them to me. The notice says that if I don't pay the entire thing they are going to start garnishing my wages. Is there any way I can get out of this? Like I said, I don't even have a license, I have never driven a car in my life. The title loan person never mentioned any tickets would be in my name. Maybe it was in the contract I signed, but they didn't even give me a copy of that or anything. They put the car in my name, so this is why my name is on all the tickets. We didn't even know doing the cosigner thing would put the car in my name, until after everything was all filled out,and they gave us the new title. I feel like I was tricked by them, but I know I am mostly to blame here. I can easily prove I had nothing to do with those tickets since I have never had a drivers license, but I know the people this money is owed to doesn't care.

I would have no problem filing for bankruptcy if it would help getting away from all of this, even though it would mess up my credit (I don't even have any yet) but I have read that bankruptcy doesn't count towards tickets? Although I have read something about a chapter 13 possibly getting rid of some tickets.

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

    Default Re: Parking Tickets

They put the car in my name,
who did and why? but they do not put it in your name. You would have to put it in your name.

We didn't even know doing the cosigner thing would put the car in my name
it doesn't. Your mother signing off of the title and you putting your information as buyer on the title is what did that.

I can easily prove I had nothing to do with those tickets since I have never had a drivers license
but you did have something to do with those tickets. Your car was illegally parked so you get the ticket/
