I cannot speak specifically to the laws in your state, but out here the details are usually kept close to the vest for both legal and practical reasons. If we were to broadcast each and every discussion, it would be no time before details leaked and one side or the other claimed "bad faith" in negotiations. It serves little purpose to constantly be mentioning each and every proposal and counterproposal as it could serve only to inflame tensions or to create false impressions.

You have a right to vote on any proposal, but the union is likely NOT required to give anyone the details of what might be happening inside the negotiating room until a tentative agreement is available to be discussed and voted upon by the membership.

If you have any concerns, contact your union rep and maybe someone who is on the negotiating committee and ask them if they can give you any inkling as to how things are proceeding.
