Most CD's offer a FREE initial consultation. So you won't be wasting money on a "rinky dink" local lawyer. Best case scenario - your mind is eased. Worst case, you atleast know who to call should police call or visit (best advice we can give you is if the police become involved, your only words are "I want to call my lawyer" and then shut up.

And a local attorney is best to advise you - they likely have dealt with the store in some manner - shoplifters, for example. They know the Prosecutors in your county and what charges, if any, may be filed; what to expect should it go to court, etc.
