My question involves name change laws in the State of: RI

Child is 13 months old. An order in in place and through legal action, the last name was changed to the "Mother-Father" format.

Mother is engaged, and has been since the child was 3 weeks old. She should be married when the child is aged 15 mos, and has asked to change name to "stepdad-biodad". I have refused.

I initiated the legal proceedings at birth and mom desired me to just leave her and her future hubby alone to raise my child as theirs. There is evidence of parential alienation towards me. I'll just leave it as that to stay on the main subject.

What is typically done here? I suggest a change to only my last name? What would a court do?
