My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
My tenant recently moved out leaving damage to the carpets, (which were less than one year old), requiring replacement of both the carpeting and padding.
I had to drive approximately 25 miles to purchase new materials and another 30 miles to the dump in order to dispose of the damaged carpeting and padding.
Can I deduct charges for my fuel/mileage and dumping fees, and if so, how much?
