Default Served With a Summons but the Case is Not on the Docket

My question involves small claims court in the state of: CT

What does it mean when you are served papers by a Marshall for a small claims case but the case never shows up on the docket? 30 days later the action is still not on the docket.

The small claims writ was served. A month passed with no court action. Six weeks after the original writ was served a second arrived and that one ended up on the docket.

I am trying to find out why the first one never went on the docket as they were both for the same suit.

Did you visit the court and check on it?

    Better go there and check.

Sometimes the online docket isn't accurate.

Read the following booklet on how CT small claims works. See Page 36 for Instructions to Defendant:

    http://www.jud.ct.gov/Publications/CV045.pdf

Apparently you don't have to file an answer until the court receives the filed case and sends you the answer form.

You can also keep monitoring the docket by using the small claims case look-up feature:

    http://www.jud2.ct.gov/Small_Claims/Default.asp

However, make sure you visit the courthouse listed on the papers and check personally.
