Default Problems With Access to Tandem Parking Spot

I live in a brownstone in the Back Bay and the parking behind the unit is tandem (one car parks behind the other in one row and there are three rows behind the unit - 6 cars total). Each condo is owned and each owner has a designated parking spot. I am parked in the front spot, in the middle row and someone parks behind me. All spots are occupied so in order for me to get out, the owner behind me must move their car, and in order for me to get in, the owner behind me must move their car to let me in. She does not want to exchange keys so i am left with no other alternative but to call her to schedule a time where I can have her move her car (both to get in and out). Total pain in the ass. There have been numerous occasions where she has not been home so i have been unable to gain entrance into my parking spot. Other times, she is not there so i have no way of getting out. What are my rights here and do i have the right to have her car towed if i ever need to get out? Lesson learned - forget tandem parking. Absolutely not worth it. Thanks for your advice.

    Regards,

    NHM

Consult the foolish agreement contained in your condo bylaws and paperwork. I also suggest you buy a scooter or motorcycle.

You can read your bylaws but they are not going to say you can have her car towed....

Best you can do is come up with some good people skill solution. First be really nice to her for a month or more. Like super nice always smile then wish her good day, ask how she is doing and act interested.... Then after a while ask that you give her a key to your car and see if she can allow you to park in her spot while she parks in yours. This way you get no key to her car and you can both get out at will. Remember she is doing you a favor. She can get in and out as she pleases now ....

that wasn't disagreeable's point. It was to discover what, if any, rules there are regarding this issue. If there are none, then your be nice stuff is going to be very important. The issue may be addressed in some manner in the condo rules. To me, it would be foolish to accept this situation if there were no rules in place since there is no real right to do anything if you are blocked in.
