My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: New Jersey
I recently contacted the human resources department of my employer. I asked for a reasonable accommodation request form. Some of the language in the cover letter addressed to me seems intimidating. I addressed my concerns with two members of management immediatly. I was told to direct my concerns to the head of human resources.
A few hours later there was some reorganization within my department. I had been "accommodated" without filing any paperwork nor submitting medical documentation. My employer does not have a very good track record with employees that have a disability. I feel that I have been "accommodated" because I asked to many questions. I sincerely believe that I may have put my job at risk.
Some of the language in the paperwork that concerns me states "Please me mindful that your employment status may be negatively affected in the event you fail to provide this documentation within the required time frame."
Any advice or guidance that can be provided would be appreciated.
