I went to blockbuster in Michigan to get a movie. As soon as I took the lock of the case, an employee came up to me and asked if I would like to have him hold the movie up at the front for me. When I told him no, he immediately took the movie from me and called the police.
When the cop arrived, they told him what happened and he then put me in his car. He asked me if I had any outstanding tickets or priors on my record. I told him that i did not and he then looked up the information.
He talked to a supervisor and I heard the supervisor tell him to write a report, let me go and tell me never to go back. When he let me go he told me that the case would be forwarded to a county investigator and that the county prosecutor would decide on what action to take.
When I got home I quickly came across this site and did a lot of reading. I am assuming that it does not matter that the blockbuster employee took the case before i could do anything except take the lock out, so I am expecting to get a notice to appear in court in the next few weeks.
The county that I live in has pretrial diversion and I am assuming that I will qualify for it since this is my first offense. The question that I have is if I complete the pretrial diversion and the case is dismissed will it still show up on my record or on a background check if I apply for a job somewhere?
