My question involves criminal law for the state of: Louisiana

I was charged in 2008 with Aggrevated Battery reduced to simple battery (first offense ever) .
There was a dispute where I was trying to be a good samaritan and ended up getting in a confortation with the person I was trying to calm down because they turned on me. I was about to be jumped by the girl and her family when i seen a bat. I picked it up and swung it to back them up (not physically striking anyone). The girl that jumped on me had a gun pointed at my back when I was walking away. Once i approached my car i got in the car and she ran up and bust my passenger window with a glass bottle. I pulled off fast and the police stopped me a street over. To arrest me. I asked could i file charges on the girl for property damage and the reply was no. I couldnt understand why. I was placed in jail. I had to a $5damage000.00 bond. I later had to complete anger management ,pay a fine to the crime lab, probation for three months that turned into six months, court costs. I later found out the girl that caused the altercation, her grandfather was the city councilmen. This is why my charge was so harsh and I was prohibited from filing charges on the girl for property damage. Every since this charge my life has been turned upside down. I worked in the mesical field for eleven years now to find jobs here and there. Due to my charge, even though it was my first offense, nobody wants to hire me. Its very frustrating. I am an educated woman and I can't even further my career in healthcare due to this charge.

Is there a way I can expung this charge so I can pursue my career in health care? This offense happened in Louisiana but I am searching for employment in Ohio. Are their laws different based on the classification of the charge? Someone please help if you can.. Thanks!
