Will Being on Welfare Affect an Application for a Fiancé Visa

I was planning on getting married with an nonimmigrate and have a daughter together who is now 4 but he wasnt with me for the first three years, he went somewhere else in Mexico and lost contact. I go to Mexico mostly every weekend to see my family that's over there and we saw each other again after 3 years and have been together for a year now. He does not financially support me because he doesn't earn that much money and helps his family with there living expenses. I want to marry him so he can be here with me and my daughter and so he can get a better job here and we can have a better life here so he can financially support us as well. But I have been on welfare for 3years now and I am a student. I had a job working at my school but couldnt continue working because I was accepted to the nursing program and that requires eight hours a day. My question is will it affect my fiance or I, if he wants to apply for the fiance visa and I am on welfare and how do I apply and how much would it cost?
