Default Transferring Probation to a Different County

My question involves criminal law for the state of: North Carolina

In July-August 2012, I was charged with a B&E felony and Larceny II after B&E. These are the first two charges I've ever had. In April 2013 I pled guilty and was served a deferred prosecution, being given 24 months of supervised probation and 36 hours of community service. So far I have completed community service, but am having trouble paying off fees due to the lack of job opportunities in the very small county I live in. So far I've only been able to pay off $300 of the $1260 in probation fees that I owe thus far. I would really like to transfer my probation and move to a bigger county only 25-30 minutes away where the job opportunities are much more plentiful so I may be able to pay more of my fees off and have more of a chance of successfully completing my probation. What are the chances I have of making this happen, and what should I do to be able to get transferred?

Express your desire to your PO. It's a burdensome task. A request has to be put in. The court may approve of your request. That doe not mean you can just go. The receiving jurisdiction must also approve the transfer request. If the request is approved, you will receive reporting instructions. Once you get that, you can go.

And even in the case that everybody is OK with it, it isn't always speedy. As violate says, it goes from your PO to the receiving PO back to the sending PO to get it approved, then they have to send the order to the receiving PO and then they call you in and it's oft like your very first visit to the original PO where they explain THEIR rules (fortunately inside the same state it shouldn't be substantially different) and how they apply in addition to the original rules.
