My question involves child support in the State of: New York
I received papers in the mail today for a court hearing against the NCP for a contempt of court for child support that has not been paid in 6 and a half months. I did not file for this, so it is safe to assume NYS or the Child Support Agency did on my behalf. The NCP has an inconsistent history of payments, and this will be the second time we will go to court for his non payment.
He is unemployed at the time, but has held various jobs and either quit when child support began to garnish or got fired because of his attitude. The support order is from 2011, set at $41 a week, and was agreed upon by him at a time of unemployment as well.
I am wondering what to expect at this court appearance. Thank you in advance.
