My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas

So after hunting for a while, we found a good house to lease, did the application and were approved. Landlord asked us to pay the security deposit to secure the house while the paper work is being processed, which I did, two weeks ago. Now that I was supposed to get the keys on 31st, owner backed out by sending an email today to my agent saying the issues we pointed out about the house are too much of a hassle to deal with. Now I have called the utilities to be transferred, boxes packed, and on the verge of being homeless in a week. Was the owner in the right to just not give us the house on such short notice whilst keeping my security deposit? Currently I have my agent trying to talk to the owner, who is not responding to her endless calls, and I also send an email with no response yet. What can I possibly do here to be able to get the house? Honestly, if the owner is acting like this even before we begin our landlord-tenant relationship, I don't wanna be dealing with someone like this for 2 years, but I don't have much of a choice here. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'd like to add, while they made us sign the lease more than a week ago, (e-sign), landlord have not signed the lease. Instead, they went behind the scenes with another tenant without any agents being involved.
