My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: Florida
My boyfriend currently works for a plumbing company that allows him to drive a company vehicle for work purposes only, he is not allowed to take this vehicle home. A few days ago he locked up his company truck and went home. He came in the next morning and someone had busted the window out of the company vehicle that was locked on the company's premises behind two additional locked gates and stole my boyfriends tools out of the truck. A police report was filed and afterwards my boyfriend asked his employer how they were going to go about replacing all the tools that were stolen and they commented that he was basically SOL. How can this be legal? They have insurance but the deductible is $2,000 and they do not want to file a claim. Aren't they liable and required to give him at least fair market value for his tools that were stolen?
