My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California

Hello,

I was fired a month ago.

Senior VP of company--->US Army veteran, 90% of team he has on board is his referral. I was the only one who applied n got through their interview without any referral.

Director ---> A New Director joined in our group and she was furious that I asked my VP if I can apply for director opening. I am not sure why she was upset with this fact. I applied before she was there. She asked me about it twice once in my one-on-one once in front of HR. So I was aware she hated me.

She dragged me to HR for rating a interviewee low. In that HR meeting she accused me that I did not like to work with my other teammates and I did not want to learn from my teammates. I defended myself saying Position role and responsibilities were not disclosed before interview which was the case in deed. and for second allegation, I defended myself saying my teammates made it clear they are not going to teach me anything. If they want to I am open to learn. She later learned that when she asked my teammates if they want to teach me anything.

Team Lead---> Very insecure guy, he often shouted at me. During requirements meeting he used words like "Do as I say", "I am not explaining you because you don't understand","You are like that character in book- The 5 dysfunctions of a team","That is none of your business".All the projects I did under him were delayed because he shouted at me and pushed me after wrong design.

Director sat 15 feet away and listened but never intervened. I brought it up in my one on one. Outcome was...when I spoke to someone...team lead walked around saying "You are shouting!".

After seeing this behavior finally I decided to meet HR. I wanted to protect myself from project delay being imposed as my bad performance.

I had meeting with my HR and disclosed how Team Lead treated me. HR had meetings with my SVP, Director and team lead. I have no further details on that because HR never disclosed me anything.

Director came and commented - "Oh so you want to make me look bad"

Post HR incident, Director started pulling on me. She reported my bad performance based on same projects which were screwed by team leader.

I spoke to HR and mentioned my director can not hold me responsible for Project gone wrong my team lead. She said that is true. We will review your performance and will speak to people you work with.

A week after HR called me in meeting and told me my performance was not good so they want to let me go. Project mentioned in reason was same which was lead by insecure team lead. He is still happily working at same company.

One other team member left company a month after I was fired he can testify how my team lead shouted at me.

I am still wondering what happened and how can any employer be this inconsiderate.

I do not have documentation of any email but I did go to HR.

Including me and my director there were only 4 women working under this VP. And place was full of guys using offensive words all over all the time.

During Halloween- One of team with two ladies dressed pregnant and when they won...one of guy during the winner walk actually thrown baby doll down of his pregnant dress on the floor.....spoofing baby push. It was very disrespectful as if they don't know how sensitive and painful baby birth, pregnancy is. HR was right there and applauded.
