My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California

I work at a local retail store, have been for the past year and a half and I know what my bosses do is wrong. We don't get a legitimate lunch break of breaks at all, if we have lunch, we still have to attend customers. My main question is, I recently quit due to the fact that I was put under life threatening circumstances and found a different job, it wasn't working out for me and I got called back to my old job but at a different location, I was getting paid a bit over minimum wage and now that I'm back, they're trying to pay me $8, is this legal?
